Hammered aluminium and brass. Copper rivets. Gold and silver chain.
Teeny tiny studs and drops made from chips of gem stones bound together with shiny resin. Small enough to fit alongside multiple piercings.
Inspired by daily swims in the sea outside the studio this collection references the shapes of underwater creatures and plants. It is made from aluminium, which means that large shapes are extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear.
The aluminium used in this collection is 40% recycled and, whilst we hope this won’t be necessary for many years to come, has the advantage of being easily recycled at the end of it’s use.
Constrained by Lockdown in 2020 I developed this collection at home with minimal tools and a lot of time at the beach with my son. Fragments of sea worn glass, shell, quartz and the odd bit of ceramic we picked up are bound with resin to create simple earrings. The glossy resin brings out the depth of colour in the glass and the variable shapes of worn oyster shell and ceramic combine to make larger statement pieces. Beachcombed materials are combined with gem stones to create an ongoing collection of one of a kind pieces. DECO (no longer available)
A fun mini-collection. Colour pops and shapes reminiscent of the Art Deco period. Made from polymer clay and silk with Sterling silver posts.
PETTYCUR (no longer available)
Shot by Susan Castillo, Art Direction by Stacey Hunter and Susan Castillo
Glowing, abstract and lightweight. Reminiscent of coral or moonrock, the pieces in the Pettycur collection are made from natural sponges and Jesmonite with glass beads and silk tassels. The mood of the collection comes from a great expanse of sand exposed at low tide at Pettycur, in the Forth Estuary. Walking out towards the sea you’re in a different world of ripples, reflections and strange formations in shallow pools. Tankers in the distance look as thought they are moving over land and although Edinburgh is close, civilisation feels distant.
TASSEL (no longer available)
Shot and styled by Susan Castillo
This mini collection is influenced by the tactics of post-modern architecture, which used shapes and motifs from classical architecture but in an abstract and colourful way. This is my equivalent, a faux tassel which mimics the tassels of baroque interiors but is frozen mid-flick. A sense of movement in a resolutely static form.
KATE TROUW X HAYWARD GALLERY (no longer available)
Designed and produced exclusively for the Hayward Gallery
LOOP (no longer available, apart from Knot necklaces)
LOOP is inspired by moving from inner-city London to a coastal village in Fife, Scotland. My studio now sits on a cliff above a beach and has panoramic views over the Forth to Edinburgh. Using the flexibility and malleability of polymer clay I’ve created looped/tied forms and pastel colour gradients which are enhanced with sparkling black sand. The forms and colours of the collection are influenced by the industrial nature of the Forth and the constantly changing sky above it.
SPLINE (no longer available)
Shot by Kristy Noble and styled by Olivia Bennett
Using humble materials, simple geometric forms and subtle pastel colours Spline is a range of statement pieces which can be worn everyday. The collection was designed whilst I still lived in London and it was influenced by my long daily walks through the city. I was fascinated by the interaction between geometry (intentional design) and accidental surface patterns created by chance over time (weather/pollution/graffiti).
